ABOUT THE MSL

The Midwest Suburban Baseball League (MSL) was founded in 1998 when a few determined individuals decided that they had had enough of playing in un-organized and corrupted mens adult baseball leagues.  In the May of 1998 the MSL was launched with an astounding 20 teams in it's inaugural season and to a huge success.  Top notch fields, low team fees, and outstanding league features, made the MSL an overwhelming success in just its first year.

Word spread fast and teams across the Chicagoland area wanted to be a part of the MSL in 1999.  The MSL grew to 30 teams and added a third playing level.  This was unprecedented in the Chicagoland area at the time.  No other league offered the range of different playing levels that the MSL now offered.  1999 also brought upon the use of the new Schaumburg Flyers Stadium for the MSL All-Star Weekend, which turned out to be a booming success.

The MSL suffered some growing pains in it's second season and had to expand it's Board of Directors to 5 to cover the increasing work load of running the 4th largest Mens Adult Baseball League in the country.  Our affiliation with the national organization of MSBL/MABL is stronger than ever and the 2000 season looks to break new ground.

The MSL plays on fields across the Northwest Suburbs, and we only choose top quality fields to play on.  These usually consist of college, minor league, or community parks.  All our games are 9 innings, (7 innings for the 2nd games in double headers), fully umpired, and fully insured.  There are 3 different levels of playing ability and they are as follows:

  • AAA (National League) - Ex-College players, have played consistent competitive baseball for an extended period of time

  • AA (American League) - Ex-high school players, and some college players. Some experience in the league and pitching depth not as deep.

  • A (Central League) - For newly formed teams and in most cases, at least high school experience or comparable baseball experience.

We also showcase a fantastic All-Star Weekend for all 3 levels including a Homerun Derby and other exciting contests.  Our year is wrapped up an ESPY style awards ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of our champions and league leaders.

Our league is always looking for players and teams that are interested in being a part of the MSL.  For more information on becoming a player or entering a team visit here.
